March 2008
Saturday 21st March Wildlife Watch Group Activities and walks for children and young persons led by Richard Thorpe, NMA Volunteer Wildlife Officer. Between 2 pm to 4 pm. £1 per child. Places are limited so booking is essential. Contact Lynne Barkas, Events Officer 01283 799857
Sunday 22th March Mothering Sunday Arboretum Guide Books are available £7 on the site, £10 by mail. This makes an ideal gift. The Arboretum Gift Shop has a wonderful selection of gifts and cards for Mums of all ages, plus a selection of unique bouquets for the special ladies in your life. Lunch is served between 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm. Mothering Sunday 3 course lunch £16.95, £10 Children under 12 years. After lunch, join in with an Avenues Guided Walk, and enjoy the fresh air and exercise the Arboretum has to offer. £2 each.
Saturday 28th March Church Lads and Church Girls' Brigade National Band. Visit and informal concert as part of the Band's rehearsal weekend. Time to be confirmed, but likely to be afternoon. April 2009
Wednesday 1st April Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the National Memorial Arboretum. Conference Room 7.30 pm. 1. Report from Officers of the committee. 2. Presentation of the Friend of the Year Award. 3. To resolve that the Society be dissolved 4. Distribution of Assets of the Society. If you would like to help maintain the existing ethos of the NMA, you are recommended to attend this meeting to hear about the proposed changes in the organisation of the Friends/ Volunteers.
Sunday 5th April Midlands Automobile Club. Start of Vintage and Classic Car run. Display of vehicles on Millennium Avenue. Time from 9.00 am. For more information visit www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk/ index
Sunday 12thApril Easter Day Service Led by Pastor Paul Owen, Acting Honorary Chaplain to the Arboretum. Time : 10.00 am. Venue : The Millennium Chapel. Cost: Retiring Collection will be made on behalf of the NMA. Open to all, but seating capacity 120. Contact : Lynne Barkas, Events Officer for details 01283 799857. Easter Family Activities Hot cross buns will be served in the Arbour Cafe after the 10.00 am Easter service, or join the family trail at 11.30 am . Answer all the questions and win a chocolate Easter Egg. The Woodland Play area will be open for the first time. Story tellers will read from "Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame throughout the afternoon in the Riverside shelter. Lunch time specials in the Arbour Cafe. Starter and main course with tea and coffee for £14.95 per person or £8.00 for children under 12. With an option on the day to add dessert and have three courses for £16.95 per person or £10 for children, under 12.
